No less than the country’s richest women welcomed the new Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian in a private dinner.
Senator Cynthia Villa and SM Investments Corp. vice chair Tessie Sy-Coson were the main guests in a private dinner hosted by Francis Chua, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman emeritus.
The 52-year-old Huang, who started his foreign service career in 1989, replaced Ambassador Zhao Jinhua who was very close to President Rodrigo Duterte. Huang’s previous foreign assignments include Brunei Darussalam, India, United States and Pakistan.
Also present were Energy Regulatory Commission Chair Agnes Devanadera; Double Dragon’s Benedicto V. Yujuico, president of PCCI; Philippine Stock Exchange Chair Jose T. Pardo; former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Armando Tetangco Jr. and wife Elma; Chua’s wife Betty, Tanazania consul;
and Peru Consul Brian Ang.
