The Philippines and Morroco have signed their first air services agreement (ASA) to boost trade, investments and tourism between the two countries.

The agreement, signed in Rabat, will allow direct flights between Manila and Morroco, the Department of Transportation said in a statement.

Quoting Transportation Undersecretary for Aviation Manuel Antonio, BusinessWorld said the ASA allows for seven weekly passenger flights and unlimited cargo flights between the two countries.

According to the DoTr, the ASA will “result in further increase in tourism figures and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and boost economic and social relations.”

This will be the Philippines’ seventh ASA in the the African region.

The Philippine government also made a commitment to set up an embassy in Morroco by next year. Morocco is a destination rich in heritage and culture.
