Nine bilyonaryos led by John Gokongwei and Ricky Razon gained a combined $1.3 billion in June this year.
The wealth growers included three of the six Sy heirs who went on divergent paths last month.
Based on Forbes’ real-time ranking of the world’s billionaires, Gokongwei is the top earner as he raised his fortune by $400 million to $5.1 billion in June 2019, up by 8.5% from the previous month. The second richest Filipino, Razon, was the second-highest gainer with $200 million which raised his wealth to $5.3 billion in June 2019, up by four percent.
Half of Henry Sy’s heirs added $100 million each to their wealth or over four percent last June: Hans and Herbert with $2.4 billion each and Big Boy with $2.2 billion.
Four others racked up $100 million last month: Manny Villar with $6.3 billion (up 1.6 percent), Andrew Tan with $3 billion (up 3.4 percent), Robert Coyiuto with $1.4 billion (up 7.6 percent), and Bobby Ongpin with $1.1 billion (up 10 percent).
