Families relying on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) had more to spend in April as they received $2.7 billion worth of remittances.
The amount is 3.7 percent higher than the $2.6 billion received in April last year, with one third of the total coming from the US, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said.
The latest remittances brought the January-April receipts tally to $10.8 billion, up from the previous year.
Other major contributors were OFWs from Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, the UK, Japan, Canada, Hong Kong, Qatar and Germany.
