The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has exceeded its collection goal  by P1.7 billion as of Dec.15.

Collections reached P6.23  billion, 35.4 percent higher than agency set by the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC).

This is the third straight year that the NTC exceeded its collection target under the Duterte regime.

“Exceeding our target for the past three years is the NTC’s way of showing its full support to the national government and the public service programs pushed by President Duterte,” said NTC commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba.

NTC said the robust collections were driven  by its efforts to strictly enforce stakeholders’ compliance in remitting spectrum users’ fees (SUF), supervision and regulation fees (SRF) and penalties.

Stakeholders regulated by the NTC include cable and commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies and 2-way radio operators.
