PAL leaves 20 OFWs stranded at Dammam airport for 3 days

Lucio Tan?s Philippine Airlines left over 20 overseas Filipino workers stranded in Saudi Arabia?s Dammam International Airport last May, causing a great deal of inconvenience.

One of those stranded, Richard Fulgosino Gaudan, said PAL left them at the airport terminal, providing them only food for three days.

He said PAL failed to provide hotel accomodation and transfers.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna did not reply when asked about the incident.

Gaudan?s flight back to Manila was scheduled for May 5 but he and other OFWs were only able to leave May 7.

He said PAL first announced that the flight would be delayed for an hour. The one hour became three hours and 30 minutes until it was finally cancelled because of technical problems.

Gaudan was just glad he had toothbrush and toothpaste in his handcarry because PAL did not even provide basic toiletries.

He was also g?ateful for his kababayans who helped them. In particular, he cited the Filipinos working at the Popeye?s restaurant who provided them food.

Gaudan said they were told that the plane had problems and that it was the same plane that they had to board.

One of those who took the flight to Dammam said the plane was already having issues just three hours after it left Manila.
