Customs Commissioner Isidro Lape?a cracking the whip on port heads has definitely paid off.
The Bureau of Customs again beat its collection target for June, with 16 of 17 ports exceeding their goals, it said in a statement.
In fact, the Port of Tacloban already hit its full-year target just halfway through 2018, as year-to-date revenues reached P394 million. This is already well beyond its P267 million annual goal.
Only the Manila International Container Port missed its P14.738-billion collection goal as it produced only P13.507 billion, but remains to be the biggest source of revenues for the bureau.
Collections for the first half reached P280.33 billion, higher than the P278.13 billion target.
