This lender wants to build beyond roads. Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III revealed that the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is looking beyond roads and bridges for possible project funding in the Philippines.

In a statement, Dominguez said he wants the AIIB to consider social services as potential areas for lending.

?We are exploring a possible sectoral loan with AIIB to finance health care facilities, school buildings and rural roads,? the Finance chief said before the AIIB annual meeting held in India.

AIIB has so far approved a flood management project in Metro Manila for financing, which is one of 26 infrastructure projects across Asia.

Was Dominguez’s pitch good enough? Stay tuned.
