Chinese President Xi Jinping is the world?s most powerful person, according to the annual listing of Forbes magazine.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is the world?s most powerful person, according to the annual listing of Forbes magazine.

“Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, seizes the top spot for the first time ever after China?s congress amended its constitution in March, broadening his influence and eliminating term limits. He enjoys a cult of personality not seen since Chairman Mao,” said Forbes’ Dave Ewalt.

Xi dislodged Russian President Vladimir Putin who held the top post for four years in a row.

United States President Donald Trump took third place in Forbes’ latest World?s 75 Most Powerful People in 2018., followed by Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is also the 2018 most powerful woman.

President Rodrigo Duterte landed on the 69th spot of the Forbes? list of men and women who ?make the world turn.” He was No. 70 the previous ranking.

?So far, his war on crime has already resulted in the killing of thousands of people across the archipelago country,” said Ewalt who cited Duterte’s ?raw and vulgar vocabulary.?

?He called Obama ?son of a whore? and has used homophobic slurs to describe opponents,” he added.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte ?has many times acknowledged that the true source of power is the people?.

?As Chief Executive for almost two years, he has faithfully served our people by promoting the interests of the Filipino people and the Filipino nation first,? Roque said.

Roque said the Duterte administration?s war on drugs, the pursuit of an independent foreign policy, pro-poor policies, and programs ?are reflective of the current government?s advancing the welfare of the greatest number of our countrymen?.

?The Presidency, in the mind of PRRD, begins and ends with public trust, where real power emanates,? he added.
