A little more effort would go a long way.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III commended the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for a stellar year of collections, but said they should not rest their laurels just yet.
In a statement, Dominguez ordered the agencies to find a new Mighty Corp.-like tax evader and make them pay.
The marching order: run after tax cheats ?with hammer and tongs.?
Vigorous scrutiny of tax declarations and income books could unearth millions more in additional revenues for the government, to a level of P25 billion like what Mighty paid.
This comes after the BIR raised collections by 12% so far this 2017.
