Outgoing 8990 Holdings CEO Januario Jesus ?JJ? Atencio brushed off any individual effort, saying the company?s success is a a result of a total team effort.

?The success of 8990 is not just mine but a collaborative effort with the leadership and guidance of my business partners Luis Yu, the founder of 8990 and Mariano Martinez our chairman as well as the executives and staff all through these years.

We all had a significant role in the growth of the company. By no means was I the only one responsible for the the growth and success of 8990 and my legacy is to have been part of that growth story,? Atencio said in a statement issued Friday.

Martinez has more than 30 years of experience managing and heading companies engaged in mass housing subdivision development.

Yu, a Cebu-based businessman, owns membership shopping chain Landers and the local restaurant chain Kuya J.

Atencio is retiring at the end of this year, closing out a five-year run at the helm of the listed mass housing developer.
