Teresita Sy-Coson has been named the “Management Man of the Year” by the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) for steering the Sy family’s retail empire to new heights.
The second woman recipient of the award, Sy-Coson was recognized for her contribution to re-shaping national values through her track record of integrity, professional competence and strong leadership.
She was also credited for being instrumental in sustaining BDO?s position as the leading bank in the Philippines.
The award is given by MAP to individuals in the business community or government who have attained unquestioned distinction in the practice of management and for contributing to the country?s progress.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. was last year’s recipient. Previous awardees were tycoons Jaime Zobel De Ayala, George SK Ty, Erramon Aboitiz, Manuel V. Pangilinan, and Tony Tan Caktiong, among others.
