Pagcor puts final nail in PhilWeb?s coffin

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. has shut its door on gaming technology provider PhilWeb Corp. for good.

This after Pagcor chief Andrea Domingo reiterated that the agency would not renew PhilWeb?s license despite Roberto V. Ongpin?s offer to donate bulk of his stake to the state-run gaming regulator in a desperate attempt to save the company from going out of business.

Domingo likewise clarified that Pagcor was just heeding President Duterte?s directive to stop the proliferation of online gambling in the country.

?The issue is not RVO (Roberto V. Ongpin) or PhilWeb per se. It is the President’s and his government’s opposition to online and onsite gaming because of the social ills and decay they foist on our communities as they cater to the more economically vulnerable portion of our population,” Domingo said in a statement.
