Only 1 company submits bid for Montero testing

ONLY ONE company submitted a bid to be the third-party laboratory that will test whether Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp.?s Montero Sport model is positive for sudden unintended acceleration (SUA).

In a press briefing yesterday, Victorio Mario A. Dimagiba, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) undersecretary for consumer protection, identified the bidder as SGS Philippines, Inc., which he described as the local unit of a global company that provides independent services in inspection, verification, testing and certification.

He said SGS Philippines submitted a bid of P8.916 million, which will cover the cost involved in testing the Montero units for SUA, or the unexpected and uncontrolled acceleration of a vehicle that is often paired with an ineffective brake.
