Bilyonaryos have committed to support the government’s effort to prepare for disasters and speed up aid and relief efforts during calamities.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) held a dialogue with the Bilyonaryos on 7 March 2016 in Makati.
Present were Manuel V. Pangilinan of PLDT-Smart Communications, Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corp., Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala of Ayala Corp., Faraday Go of Robinson’s Land, Doris Magsaysay Ho of A. Magsaysay Inc., Federico Lopez of First Philippine Holdings, and Hans Sy of SM Prime Holdings.
The Bilyonaryos agreed to help the government’s risk reduction efforts specifically in economic risk assessment, business operations continuity, sustainable livelihood, disaster risk financing, logistics and supply chain management, communication and infrastructure and health and safer shelter.
The NDRRMC hopes that each Bilyonaryo would find their specific role in any relief or rehabilitation effort to ensure swift assistance and avoid redundancies that cause waste of resources and time. With at least 20 typhoons visiting the country every year, Bilyonaryos felt that it was time they make a common effort to deal with these calamity risks in an efficient manner.
Top business leaders all pledged to work together to support government efforts that center on making communities and businesses disaster resilient. #goodnews #supportingcommunities
